Newsflash: I am a Guy

April 27th, 2007 | View Comments

Andrew Sullivan asks if he blogs like a girl. Apparently, he does not.

However, I apparently blog like a guy.

I submitted three entries to the Gender Genie, purposely avoiding any entries about food for fear of biasing the algorithm:

In all cases, the Gender Genie determined they had been written by a guy. I don’t really get how it’s doing the analysis though. “Be” is a feminine word while “is” is masculine? Huh?

On the other hand, I just submitted this entry to the Genie and it thinks this one is girly. Go figure.

Apparently, I blog like a hermaphrodite. I’ve had some hyper-masculine blogs, some hyper-femine blogs, and some that are pretty evenly split.

Same here; some of my entries from JaneChin.com are assigned as feminine (although not hyper) and some are hypermasculine.
