Last Weekend’s Cooking Extravaganza

September 20th, 2006 | View Comments

I know y’all are dying to see the fruits of my blender-assisted labor. Apologies for the subpar photos. I really need a new camera and some photography lessons so I can learn to keep my hands still and compensate for terrible lighting.

All the below recipes can be found in this month’s issue of Fine Cooking.

Exhibit #1: Tapas

Patatas bravas and sauteed mushrooms

Here we have patatas bravas and sauteed mushrooms. Both recipes were super easy. The sauce for the patatas bravas was a little more involved, but even that was mostly throw stuff in a saucepan, simmer, and puree.

I brought these to a potluck dinner and they were gone in no time flat.

Exhibit #2: Tandoori Chicken

Spices for the Tandoori chicken marinade

Here we have some spices that are about to become part of a Tandoori chicken marinade. I just thought it looked pretty in the bowl.

Exhibit #3: Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken tikka masala

And here is the finished chicken tikka masala. Serves 6-8? Surely you jest. I got five meals out of this, and that’s serving it over rice. But oh, oh so tasty. It took an afternoon’s worth of labor, but it was worth it.

Keeping your hands steady? Surely you jest. Why try to hold yet another thing in the kitchen when these things exist?
