Daily Productivity Tally
January 9th, 2007 | View Comments
I’m going to try something new to help me better manage my time. Not that this will excite any of you, unless you happen to be my advisor.
In the spirit of the project progress bars on my knitting blog, I have started a daily productivity tally in my sidebar. Any worthy achievement for the day will get added to the tally. Each morning, I will clear the previous day’s tally and start anew.
Let’s see if this helps me get more stuff done, or if I just wind up wasting a lot of time trying to pad the list so I look better. I’m hoping that this will help me focus on finishing single tasks instead of what usually happens, which is that I multitask myself into massive unproductivity.
This morning went pretty well. I got up early enough to throw a beef stew into the slow cooker so it will be ready to eat when I come home, and I learned something in lecture.
The first order of business post-lunch is to get coffee so I don’t fall asleep at my desk.

Any interest in making this a mini blog (i.e., something with permalinks)? So that you have, you know, archives you can refer back to? I know that you do a similar sidebar thingy with your del.icio.us bookmarks, but again, you have some archives.
(And wow. This is why I shouldn’t have done Dutch grammar exercises first thing in the morning: my English is, like, broken.)

Let me know how it works. I’m using a 4X6 post it note for tracking my productivity this year (or month). Basically, whatever I can fit into the piece of paper I try to get done.
