Toothless Wonder

So the latest news here at La Casa de Thought Bubbles is that I had all four wisdom teeth extracted last Thursday. They were all non-impacted and the oral surgeon assured me that it would be relatively painless and recovery would be easy. I had him put me under anyways, because I’m a big sissy. And because I have a serious needle phobia and really had no desire to be conscious for twelve injections of Novacaine.

And while he wasn’t wrong about the recovery—I’ve had almost no swelling and what pain there is gets easily knocked down by a couple of extra-strength generic Tylenol—I wasn’t expecting to be quite this…tired. I eat a lot normally, as much as many guys do, and nothing runs me down faster than interfering with my ability to eat. I’ve lost three pounds since Thursday morning. I would never make it on Survivor.

I’ve been slowly working my way up the solid food chain. So far I’ve been able to manage pasta, pizza, rice, mushy veggies, fish, and ground meat, but the raw lettuce and cucumber that came with my food tonight proved to be too much.

I’ve only been up for about 11 hours, but I am ready for bed. I’ll probably dream of eating crunchy things.
