Happy iPhone Day!

Yep, I’m posting from an iPhone in the Apple store.
It’s pretty cool.
Later: Ok, I’m back at home on my laptop now. I loved playing with the iPhone and will probably get one…at some point. Someone I know did buy one today and is busy being a kid at Christmas right now. Hehehe.
The interface is very nice, though there are some usability quirks. The main gripe I have is that the buttons on the keyboard are a bit small, even for my little fingers; I kept fat-fingering the wrong keys. I’m not sure what kind of experience a linebacker would have, trying to type via iPhone. Also, I’m not sure of the value of having the alpha characters appear in the QWERTY format, other than familiarity. The QWERTY keyboard was designed for two-handed touch typing, not single-fingered hunt-and-peck.
On the plus side, web pages look amazing on such a tiny screen. It’s a huge step up from the other handhelds. It takes some codemonkeying to make this site pretty on a computer but minimalistically readable on a handheld, so I’m hoping everybody else follows in Apple’s footsteps and starts building full-fledged browsers into their products.

Me either. We wandered by the Apple store in the mall a bit before 6pm and stared at the line. Then we had something to eat at the food court, went clothes shopping for a bit, stopped back by the Apple store at 7pm and just waltzed right on in. No line. I wondered if the people who waited in line all day felt like chumps.

I still don’t get the whole “lining up for 10 hours to pay $$$$$ for a fancy phone and 2 year plan with AT&T”….
