Dear Flying Assholes

August 10th, 2006 | View Comments

Y’know, I don’t care what your dad did to you, or that the neighborhood kids picked on you, or that the US or the UK made some policy you didn’t like.

There is absolutely no reason why trying to blow up a dozen planes full of innocent people should seem like a good idea unless your life goal is to win the World’s Biggest Asshole contest. There’s a lot of competition, to be sure, but only people with deep psychological issues think it’s a contest worth winning.

And honestly. People aren’t even hard to kill. We do it by accident all the time. Even kids can do it, given the right tools. Even if you manage to knock off a thousand or so folks in flying metal tubes, you won’t even come close to matching the awesome destructive power produced by unintelligent actors like earthquakes and cancer and time.

And even if you succeed, you’re just going to wind up making a bunch of people in Hollywood rich when they inevitably make a movie about it. Girls will go crazy over the heartthrob playing the (white) (American) hero and you’ll get written as Terrorist #3. You still lose.

Given that this post is an open letter written to people who find MASS MURDER OF INNOCENT PEOPLE an appropriate solution to their life problems, I think a little offensive language is in order.

And seriously. Two uses of the word “asshole” and you’re offended? Wow.
